Exceptional show

Not-to-be missed concert

« Les plus célèbres airs d’opéra » (« The most famous opera chants ») by the prestigious Chœur de l’Armée Française.

As a special Republican Guard ensemble, it is the Republic’s official choir. It represents the best of the Army’s culture through its original and unique dimension.

Only professionnal male choir in France, it is composed of 40 singers recruited among the elite of the french singers. The choir is conducted by lieutenant-colonel Aurore Tillac who was unanimously awarded, with great credit, a grand prize by the directors of the Gregorian chant department of Paris Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique.

Just as Orchestre de la Garde Républicaine, which they regularily perform with, the Chœur de l’Armée Française takes part to official events as well as musical seasons or festivals. It has also worked with numerous french orchestras under the direction of conductors suchs as Yutaka Sado, Christoph Eschenbach, Pierre Boulez, Edmon Colomer, Michel Plasson, Péter Eötvös for shows and recording sessions.

The Chœur de l’Armée Française will perform some of the most famous opera chants. The first part will feature OFFENBACH and HERVE with his opera buffa « Le Petit Faust » (« The Little Faust »). These parodies of a very bombastic traditional opera will bring the cheerful atmosphere of a Second Empire French tavern to the concert room. The second part, more war-like, thanks to VERDI, will feature Gershwin tunes before concluding with William STEFFE’s patriotic anthem… Glory glory, hallelujah !
